Congratulations to our US Favorite Finds winner Cregg T. from Texas!
Cregg and his wife went to Rockport, Texas to visit the beach. This beach is a popular attraction due to the calm water. Unfortunately, on this day, it was rainy, but that didn’t stop Cregg from using his VX9 on the beach. He started detecting and was greeted by a small jellyfish but was able to maneuver around it. After an hour, he finally got a good signal in the 60s. It took him several scoops to dig it out, but he found gold! It was a 1943 Rockport Texas ISD Class Ring! He writes, “There are initials stamped in the ring, so my mission began trying to identify the owner. The person would have to be around 100 years old, which could make this challenging. My theory is that this ring was on a chain and was lost during World War II. Maybe by a girlfriend. I contacted the local newspaper, the Rockport Pilot, to help with the mystery. The editor was very excited and wrote a story for the paper. This led me to find the owner and give it to him. He had a huge smile on his face! Thanks, Garrett.”
