WINNER #1
My first U.S. favorite finds for April 2016 are the two gold pieces, a 1906 $5 Liberty and a 1910 $5 Half Eagle, found by Jamie L. from Oregon, with his AT Gold.

Jamie’s story: “I was out detecting an area I had gone over several times before when I got a real good mid range signal. After cutting the plug I scooped out a handful of dirt to reveal a 1910 Indian Head $5 gold Half Eagle staring back at me. I was so excited about the find that I wasn’t thinking straight, couldn’t focus on detecting any more and went home to inspect my newfound treasure. Laying in bed that night I realized I had made a critical mistake. I forgot to re-check the hole as I usually do. I wasn’t able to get back out for a whole week later, all the while kicking myself for my huge error. When I finally made it back I immediately went to the same exact spot, turned on the AT Gold, and gave it a swing. My heart stopped as I got another distinct mid-range signal. The same plug removed from the week before and my pin-pointer said there was something in it. I carefully tore it apart by hand to discover… a 1906 $5 LIBERTY! Talk about luck! Thank you Garrett, for giving me the ability to make such an awesome discovery. Tally another happy customer and another Garrett machine that has officially paid for itself.”

WINNER #2
My second U.S. favorite find for April 2016 is the Quartz/Gold, discovered by Kurt S., from California, with his AT Gold.

Kurt’s story: "This story is on the cusp of being too good to be true but it happened and it happened to me! I only had a half hour of free time so I grabbed my AT Gold and went to a place I’ve been trying to find gold at, but only finding lead. I chose to work the top of a hill so I fired up my machine, ground balanced it and started sweeping. In 30 seconds I got a hit in the 55 range. I dug a scoop out with my shovel and placed it next to the hole and scanned the hole. The target was gone so I started probing my scoop with my hand held (different brand) pin pointer. I was looking for lead but noticed my pin pointer went off on this potato sized rock. I poked at the rock in 5 different places and the pin pointer went crazy every time! I picked it up and noted it was VERY heavy. I wiped it off and GOLD glittered everywhere and I could see it even without my glasses! I quickly scanned the area and left. I found a rock with 10.4 ounces of gold in it and didn't even get dirty! This was not beginners luck. I have hundreds of hours in digging up garbage prior to this. It was simply my turn to uncover something amazing. I’m buying an ATX and going back! This story is 100% true and it happened 2 weeks ago."

WINNER #3
My third U.S. favorite finds for April 2016 are the Three Civil War Waco Guards Buttons, discovered by Todd, from Illinois, with his AT Pro.

Todd’s story: "I use a Garrett AT Pro and it has been one great detector. I have been pounding this old farm ground for three years now and have found some great stuff from ax heads to rings, and civil war items. but the best of them all are these civil war Waco guards buttons I have found. They say these are the rarest of all civil war buttons, only a few have been found. This makes four I have found. Thanks for Garrett for making a great detector."

My fourth U.S. favorite find for April 2016 is the Indian Wars Buckle, found by James S., from Arizona, with his AT Pro.

James’ story: "Me and my wife picked up the hobby three years ago. I have the Garrett AT Pro and she has the Ace 350. We have found many old coins and silver jewelry. We live in a small railroad town and know there is a lot of history here. I found this beautiful army buckle in Winslow, Arizona used during the Indian wars."

WINNER #5
My fifth U.S. favorite find for April 2016 is the 1877 Trade Dollar, found by Ronald W., from Massachusetts, with his AT Pro.

Ron’s story: "I’ve been detecting a property I received permission on for almost a month now. I use an AT Pro and after owning other machines, I’m really liking it. I’ve been taking my time, swinging low and slow with great results. So many finds here, from colonial to clad, I’ve found it all! On this day I was on a mission to find my 25th silver for the year, and the way this permission has been going, my chances were good. I had been detecting for about an hour when I got a choppy 94-96 at 8 to 10 inches. After cutting a big plug and pulling it out I still couldn’t get a signal with my pinpointer. After digging another 5 inches, I finally got a hit at almost 10 inches. When I pulled this out, I couldn’t believe my eyes! I’ve been detecting for 4 years now and still on the hunt for my first silver dollar. But finding this 1877 Trade Dollar as my first was definitely better than I could have ever expected!"

WINNER #6
My sixth U.S. favorite find for April 2016 is the 1892 World Columbian Exhibition Medal, discovered by Mark M., from Pennsylvania, with his AT Pro.

Marks story: "Just started metal detecting in August 2015 with an Ace 350, upgraded shortly after to an AT Pro. Fast forward to last Sunday 4-3 Cold weather kept me home that day, Later in the afternoon I decided to hit my backyard, AGAIN probably for the 12th time. I had a 91 on the ID but with some null in the tone, and couldn’t get a pinpoint on it. Target depth said 10+ so I dug it, pinpointer in the hole, Nothing! I filled it in, rescanned, got a slight pinpoint about 6 inches to left of original plug and again 10+ on the depth. I dug a plug, about 10 in. down, stuck the hori hori knife in and popped about two more inches of dirt out of the hole and thats when I saw this honker in the hole. This thing is 2 inches in diameter. For me, this was an eyepopping, mindblowing, coolest ever find. Can’t wait to see what finds lie ahead."
