On a warm summer day in a Pennsylvania pasture, what started as a normal hunt with the AT PRO for Ryan quickly turned into history in his hands. He had visited this 1800s homestead before finding buttons, large cents, and early relics, but nothing could’ve prepared me for what happened next. He writes, “As I headed toward the creek to leave for the day, I got a screaming high tone. Honestly, I thought it was an aluminum can… until I opened the plug and saw a 1779 8 Reale staring back at me! I literally threw my shovel and ran in circles while my buddy yelled, “WHAT DID YOU FIND?!”
After rinsing it in the creek, he stood there shaking completely in awe. He returned the next day, and it paid off again when he found an 1809 8 Reale and a 1782 2 Reale. Three Spanish silver coins in two days is a treasure hunter’s dream. Moments like this remind us why we search. You never know when your next swing will change everything.

What an unforgettable day at Detectival for Libby! The fields were alive with the sound of detectors, spades, and excitement. She fired up her trusty Garrett AT Pro, scanned the soil and then it happened. A crisp, solid tone. A sound every detectorist dreams of. One careful dig later, she saw a rose gold stater, dating back to 250–150 BC.
She writes, “My heart stopped. Hands shaking. Two thousand years of history glinting back at me through the dirt. I couldn’t believe it. That’s the magic of this hobby, one minute you’re digging lead, the next you’re holding a relic of ancient civilization. You never know what stories lie just beneath your feet. What a day. What a find. What a machine.”

A weekend camping trip turned unforgettable!
Just a couple of hours into the hunt with the Vortex VX9 in Beach Mode, a low tone caught Matthew C.’s ear. It sounded like trash, but he dug it anyway because low tones = GOLD potential. He writes, “As I pulled the clump from the water, I saw that it was a gold ring for sure, and I was so excited that this was my first gold ring using the Vortex. My wife witnessed me pulling it up and taking pictures for me. Got it back to camp, cleaned it up, and saw that it was a 14k diamond ring. Thank you, Garrett, for making such a quality machine.”
