Apex Software Update 1.28.1


This release brings your Apex up to date with all improvements made since its introduction. Some of these enhancements include:

  • Improved overall stability
  • Faster and more accurate ground balance in saltwater
  • More accurate pinpointing
  • More distinctive tones to better differentiate good targets from iron
  • Backlight powers on temporarily while making Menu changes
Procedure


To update your Garrett ACE Apex, a PC computer running with Windows 7 or newer operating system is required.

Note: at this time, the Apex software upgrade is not supported by other Windows operating systems or by Apple systems.


Please select the appropriate download link below.


Windows 8 or newer Apex Update Procedure

  • Download the ACEApex_Update281.zip file here to your computer. Click the "Download" button in the right corner.
  • Find the .zip file you saved to your computer, right-click to select "Extract All" files from the .zip file, and then follow the instructions.
  • Double-click Flashtool_1_05_28_1.exe
  • On the back of your Apex, insert the micro-USB connection cable that is normally used to recharge your Apex.
  • Power on your Apex and verify that the battery has at least 2 bars worth of charge.
  • Leave the Apex powered on and plug the USB cable into your computer.
  • Click the “Update ACE Apex” button.
  • This update takes only a couple of minutes. Watch for on-screen prompts that indicate when update is complete.
  • Then, disconnect your Apex and you are ready to go!


Windows 7 Apex Update Procedure

  • Download both the ACEApex_Update281.zip and AceApex_UsbDrive.zip files here to your computer. Click the "Download" button in the right corner.
  • Find the AceApex_UsbDriver.zip file you saved to your computer, right-click to select "Extract All" files from the .zip file, and then follow the instructions.
  • Open the ApexUsbDriver_Installation file and follow the instructions on how to install the USB driver.
  • Once the USB Driver is installed, open the ACEApex_Update28.zip file.
  • Extract the files.
  • Double-click Flashtool_1_05_28_1.exe
  • On the back of your Apex, insert the micro-USB connection cable that is normally used to recharge your Apex.
  • Power on your Apex and verify that the battery has at least 2 bars worth of charge.
  • Leave the Apex powered on and plug the USB cable into your computer.
  • Click the “Update ACE Apex” button.
  • This update takes only a couple of minutes. Watch for on-screen prompts that indicate when update is complete.
  • Then, disconnect your Apex and you are ready to go!


Equipment Required:

  • PC with Windows 7 or newer operating system.
  • An active Internet link
  • Apex detector
  • Apex micro-USB connection cable


Note on some browsers:

Some virus protection programs could create a warning box that states running this app might put your PC at risk. Near the “Don’t Run” box, there should be an option for “More Info.” Click on this and select “Run Anyway” to complete installation.
