July/August Vortex Winner
Congratulations to our Vortex Contest Finds winner Kenneth B. from Connecticut!
This incredible find came from a private permission in central Connecticut at a home built in 1795 by Captain John Johnson, a Revolutionary War veteran who served in the Connecticut militia under Colonel Wadsworth. Captain Johnson fought alongside George Washington and later took part in the Siege of Yorktown, where British General Cornwallis surrendered.
While Kenneth was detecting the property with the VX9, this George Washington button was found face down in soft soil at about 5–6 inches deep! He writes” Finding a relic like this is exciting on its own, but uncovering it at a property tied to a Revolutionary War soldier makes the story even more powerful. History really does have a way of coming full circle.”
