Congratulations to our U.S. Favorite Finds winner Blake J. from Georgia!
Blake says, “When your intuition says “one last hole”.... dig it, you never know what it could be!”
On this day, he was detecting an antebellum farmhouse with his ACE 400. He decided to dig up the last target of the day when uncovered the 1914 United Confederate Veterans Reunion Medal! He searched on Google at the farmhouse for what he found and realized he only found one part of the medal. He writes, “Instead of packing up, I continued detecting. About 45 minutes later, that promising tone and signal rang up again, about 6-10 feet adjacent to the hole that produced the bottom part of the medal. It was the top part of the medal, with the small connecting loop still attached!”

Congratulations to our US Favorite Finds winner David K. from Michigan!
David and his son have been metal detecting together for years using Garrett equipment. On this day, they went to this old hotel location where people flocked to Michigan to cool off in the lake on a hot summer day. David found this location using a map from 1890! He was using his AT Max with the sniper coil because the water was knee-deep with a hard rock and clay bottom filled with trash that was hard to maneuver. He writes, “It was the best metal detecting day ever! The best find was a 1914 National Encampment Delegate medal, made of pewter or other corrosion-resistant metal. Other finds included a near-perfect key for a Model T automobile. It could have been from one of the Model T’s depicted in the old photo! In addition, we found a handful of turn-of-the-century coins, two old Cracker Jack toys, Buffalo Nickels, something called a collar button with the patent date of May 11, 1915, and a fancy engraved legging clip from an old bathing suit!”

Congratulations to our US Favorite Finds winner Kevin M. from Pennsylvania!
Kevin was detecting in the morning with his AT Max on a property located in southwest Pennsylvania that had a 1810 farmhouse. He started digging and on his second hole, he got a solid tone. The target was 3 inches down and when he dug it up, he found a 1789 George Washington inaugural button “Linked States” Edition! He says, “It wasn’t until I got home and started to clean my finds, to realize I found my find of a lifetime! I started to slowly cover the details and saw the circular initials of the link states on the outside of the button, a pattern I recognize reading history books. Then I saw in the middle, Long Live the President. I knew exactly what I had. I was awestruck and speechless. I couldn’t contain my excitement. I knew that I saved something that could have been forever lost. An important part of history, that has been recovered, that I will cherish forever.”
