A Guide to Metal Detector Depth Capabilities
When beginning the adventure of metal detecting, one of the most common questions asked is, “How deep can metal detectors detect?” Typically, metal detectors are capable of uncovering objects buried between 10 to 16 inches deep. However, with very large search coils or two-box detectors like the GTI 2500, it’s possible to detect targets buried several feet below the surface. This capability varies significantly based on the type of metal detector used, the size of the metal object, and the specific ground conditions.
